Don't let this design limit your creativity, signs like this can be used to point in the direction of anything that matters to you!
For Christmas we made this post for the garden. Each of the kids' and grandkids' names are featured on an arrow pointing in the direction they live with the distance from home!
It even includes an arrow pointing to the family's special northern retreat. Below are links for the materials that can be found on Amazon - but these items can also be reclaimed from old décor or projects.
Post: the size of the post should be picked based on where you want to place it.
Planks: the planks used for our names and arrows were separated from a bigger piece of wall décor found on clearance. The link we're sharing is for new ones on Amazon.
Arrows: depending on your style, pick an arrow design that suits it.
Letters used for Kids' names & Letters used for Grandkids' names: the size and style of the letters used can be determined by the style of the sign and size of planks
Paint: stains and paints are all part of personal preference. We like to save paints from project to project because there always seems to be leftovers.
Sealer: we prefer to use polyurethane designed for exterior wood treatment. If your project will be inside, you can use an interior sealant for finish. For tips on how to treat wood you can check out 3 Ways to Waterproof Wood by Bob Vila.
Attach the planks to the post using wood screws. Pre-drilling the holes will keep the planks from splitting or cracking.
